Brief Biography (English)
Dr Yach South African born, Spent a decade at the South African Medical Research Council focused on epidemiology and health policy; a decade at WHO, Geneva leading work on noncommunicable diseases and tobacco control; then moved to the USA where he has held a position as Professor of Global Health at Yale; head of Global Health at the Rockefeller Foundation; Global Health and Agriculture at PepsiCo and led the Vitality Institute for Discovery out of New York before starting and leading the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. Main interests ending smoking through a focus on adult cessation and harm reduction, leveraging market forces for change; transforming agriculture away from tobacco in Malawi.
