Brief Biography (English)

Lesley Wood, DEd, is a Research Professor in the Faculty of Education and Director of the research entity Community-based Educational Research at North-West University, South Africa.

She is a National Research Foundation rated researcher whose interests lie in researching participatory ways to facilitate holistic wellness within diverse educational contexts. Prof Wood has received international recognition for her work in action research to deal with HIV and AIDS in education, through the award of an Honorary Doctorate in 2014 by Moravian College, Pennsylvania, USA.

She has held several honorary positions at international universities at various times. Prof Wood has Published over 100 articles, chapters and books and has received several internationally funded grants for her projects. Her two latest books include Participatory Action Learning and Action Research: Theory, Process and Practice (Routledge, 2020) and Action Learning and Action Research: Genres and Approaches (Emerald, 2019), Co-Edited with Ortrun-Zuber-Skerritt.
