Dr Chigeru Wodi started her career in Medical Sciences and obtained her BSc in 2007, specializing in Human Anatomy. She became interested in academics and research and proceeded to obtain her first Master's degree. In order to gain more laboratory experience, she pursued a second Masters's degree at the University of the West of England to acquire the necessary skills in advanced research techniques. With the Award of a Scholarship in 2015, Dr Wodi pursued a PhD in Cancer/Molecular biology. Her PhD Research was focused on the effect of SRPK1 inhibition and knockdown on chronic and acute myeloid leukaemia cell biology and alternative splicing. Dr Wodi also investigated the possible benefit of targeting SRPK1 in the combination of the existing chemotherapeutic drugs such as Imatinib Mesylate and Azacitidine. She is interested in cell biology research in the field of cancer especially leukaemia, drug development, tumour microenvironment, and RNA/Protein dysregulation.
