Brief Biography (English)

Ché Weldon is a Professor of Zoology with the North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.

His research focuses on studying the links between terrestrial ectothermic vertebrate health and human health. The South African landscape provides a fitting opportunity to study the ecological and health interactions between ectothermic vertebrates (especially amphibians and reptiles), their pathogens and public health because of a relatively high species diversity and a large rural population.

The large collection of knowledge on the emerging infectious disease of amphibians, chytridiomycosis, serves as a theoretical framework for testing hypotheses related to OneHealth.
