Dr Aart-Jan Verschoor has more than 30 years of experience in the agricultural sector. He completed a BSc in Plant production, an MSc in Pasture Science, a Diploma in Agricultural Research for Development and a PhD in agricultural economics and rural development at the University of Pretoria. He joined the ARC in 2003, and became the Senior Manager for Economic and Biometrical Services in 2009. In 2010 he completed a GIBS Senior Management programme and in 2013 underwent a leadership coaching programme. Responsibilities include guidance of a team of agricultural economists, statisticians and post graduate students. He managing an inter-institutional, trans-disciplinary evaluation of the Pro-active Land Acquisition Strategy (PLAS) in which roughly 2000 farms were evaluated and several reports and publications followed. He has contributed and authored 21 scientific and many popular publications, papers and posters.
