Dr Delano Cole van der Linde is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, North-West University, South Africa. His main field of Research is organized crime, in particular anti-gang legislation. He recently obtained his doctorate in Criminal Law (from Stellenbosch University) and his dissertation, Criminal gang activities: A critical and comparative analysis of the statutory framework under South African criminal law, provided a comprehensive study into the substantive, institutional, doctrinal and constitutional issues surrounding the Chapter 4 of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act 121 of 1998 (POCA). It provided substantive suggestions for legislative amendment of POCA as well as alternatives for prosecuting gang activity in South Africa. Dr Van de Linde's Research interests further include criminal procedure, law of evidence, corruption and criminal justice.
