Ivan Turok is Distinguished Research Fellow in the Inclusive Economic Development (IED) research programme at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), South African Research Chair in City-Region Economies, Department of Economics at the University of the Free State (UFS) and Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow. His research covers various aspects of urban and regional economics and development, including the economy of cities, urbanisation, urban policy, affordable housing, tradable services, township economies, labour markets and regional economic development. He is currently Editor of the journals: Area Development and Policy and Development Southern Africa. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and 11 books/monographs. He holds an NRF B1-rating and is the former Editor-in-Chief of the top international journal, Regional Studies.
