Dr Seoleseng O. Tshwenyane is a senior lecturer at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She teaches undergraduate and graduates courses in Floriculture, Ornamental Horticulture, Controlled Environment Horticulture. She also actively involved in activities outside the University such as community service where he has trained communities on the use of indigenous plants for ornamental purposes, propagation of indigenous plants, and conducted training workshops on the sustainable use of local resources. Dr Seoleseng has contributed to the University's strategic goals by engaging in research that is working on climate-smart crops small scale farmers achieving food self-sufficiency goals for the nation. He has research on indigenous plants of Botswana with the potential to be used as cut flowers, this will reduce the reliance on the importation of cut flowers and other ornamental plants. he works with other parastatal bodies concerned with ornamental horticulture and environmental education representing the interest of the university. She has been involved various research projects such; morama bean project, the project was a collaboration with Kew botanic gardens in the UK She has also been involved in a project that aimed at plant species Ex-situ conservation, propagation, and conservation in the communities for improved livelihoods and support to In - situ conservation, sustainable use and income generation. Another project involvement was the SASSCAL project that investigated climate-smart emerging crops. The team studied morama, kgengwe, mogose, and mungongo as some of the climate-smart crops found in Botswana. Dr Seoleseng was involved in a project that looked at building an evergreen agriculture network in southern Africa. BLEANSA existed to create and mobilise networks of organisations and innovation platforms to coordinate research in Agroforestry This encouraged communities to green the environment through the growth of trees. Through the BLEANSA project a network on Evergreen Agriculture and Agroforestry was established (Botswana Evergreen Agriculture and Agroforestry Network-BEAAN). She published papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored four book chapters, and co-authored two book chapters. Together with some of her collaborating research partners have given poster and oral presentations at different international conferences. She has been a reviewer of the Botswana Journal of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (BOJAAS). I have actively involved in the following projects that aimed to improve the livelihood of communities and do outreach such as the Useful Plants Project (UPP1-2) for plant species ex-situ conservation, propagation, and conservation in the communities; SASSCAL 335, Trained local communities of the use of indigenous plants that are adaptable to their environment to be able to improve their livelihoods and secure food security and nutrition alleviating poverty; Morama bean project teaching local communities on the benefits of morama and value addition to improve their livelihood; BLEANSA local communities were trained on the importance of growing trees and greening the environment to mitigate against the effects of climate change. Her research areas are Floriculture and ornamental horticulture looking at the use of indigenous flora, Sustainable use of natural resources for community development.
