Brief Biography (English)

Dr Azwifunimunwe Tshikovhi is a profoundly skilled and knowledgeable chemist with vast research experience in nanomaterials and polymeric composites for wastewater treatment, as well as polymeric waste management-circular economy. She is a tested researcher in academic platforms who works well in a team environment. On several occasions, she has led and managed a team of at least 100 personnel, comprising staff, assistants, and students. Moreover, she is a natural initiator of science and technology projects. Her key strengths include effective planning, decision-making, and critical thinking. These attributes position me as valuable to any work environment. Dr Tshikovhi's research skills emanating from a 6-year academic experience, coupled with data analytical skills include knowledge and demonstration of the following equipment: UV-Vis, FT-IR, PL, ICP-OES, XRD, and SEM. She has taught 1st-year inorganic chemistry practical classes, as well as laboratory supervision. She also co-supervise 7 honours students. She is responsible for the administrative work in her research group including leading various activities as part of the organising committee team for the annual collaboration symposium which promotes effective collaborations, innovations, and calls for practical decolonisation of education in various South African institutions. This has helped her develop management, communication, leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Dr Tshikovhi published 5 journal articles, presented at 11 international and national conferences/workshops, She is a recipient of the National Research Foundation (NRF) scholarship from honours to PhD studies, and I’m a GCIP-SA 2024 semi-finalist.
