Brief Biography (English)

Keyan Gray Tomaselli is Distinguished Professor in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Professor Emeritus and Fellow in the School of Applied Human Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). He is also a Fellow of the International Communicology Institute and the South African Communication Association (SACOMM) and Member of the Academy of Science for South Africa (ASSAf).  He is editor of the Critical Arts: A Journal for South-North Cultural and Media Studies and founder and co-editor of Journal of African Cinemas. He is a co-editor of book series’ for UNISA Press and University of Toronto Press, and serves on an editorial panel for Michigan State University Press. His research interests are critical indigenous methodologies, political economy, African cinema and visual anthropology.
