Brief Biography (English)

Professor Vincent Pryde Kehdingha Titanji was born in Bali-Nyonga, Cameroon in 1947. After primary (1954-1962) and secondary (1962-1966) education, he traveled abroad where he obtained a Master’s degree in Animal Biochemistry from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia (1968-1973) and a PhD in Physiological Chemistry from Uppsala University, Sweden (1973-1978). Upon his return to Cameroon, he joined the Cameroon Government service and worked as an Associate Lecturer and Researcher at the CUSS (1979-82) In I982 he was recruited at the Faculty of Science of the University of Yaoundé 1 as a Senior Lecturer and rose to the ranks of Associate (1988) and Full (1998) Professor. He was the Pioneer Coordinator of the Biotechnology Center and the Biotechnology Unit respectively at the University of Yaounde 1 and University of Buea where he also served as Rector/ Vice-Chancellor (2006-2012). As a researcher, Professor Titanji’s achievements include the development of new diagnostic tests, vaccine and drug candidates for the control of river blindness and malaria. He has trained 25 PhD graduates, more than 60 Master’s students, over a dozen postdocs, and published over 130 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals. Professor Titanji is a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), and the Cameroon Academy of Sciences (CAS), a recipient of the DANIDA/IFS Prize and a Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour. A high-ranking notable of the Bali Nyonga Fondom, he is married to Dr Beatrice Lebsia Kahboh, and they have four children
