Dr Tilahun has degrees in Mathematics and Computational Science, he applied mathematical and computational tools to solve real decision making problems. He has been working in academia for more than ten years with supervising more than ten graduate students. He has an active research profile with peer reviewed publications of more than 28 and numerous conference proceedings. He has been involved in organizing conferences, workshops and schools including the first African school on Mathematical optimization in 2019, which he was the chair. He has collaborations with professors in different countries. He has been awarded a number of awards and scholarship including TWAS-USM postgraduate fellwoship, DFG-TWAS research collaboration award, Coimbra award and IMU-Simon award. The research focus of Dr Tilahun is on applied and computational decision making.
