Dr Dinesh Surroop is a Associate Professor at the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department of the University of Mauritius. He joined the University of Mauritius in August 2007 and his field of expertise is energy, environment and climate change. Dr Surroop has a First Class Degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering and a PhD in Environmental Engineering. He was National Advisor with The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) on the activity of an Industrial Waste Assessment in Mauritius and National Consultant for the project “Implementation of Industrial Symbiosis in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Mauritius” under the Switch Africa Green scheme. Dr Surroop was the Project Manager of the Small Developing Island Renewable Energy Knowledge and Technology Transfer Network (DIREKT) and the Project Coordinator of the LifeLong Learning for Energy security, access and efficiency in African and Pacific Small Island Developing States (L3EAP). Currently, Dr Surroop is the Chairperson of the International Conference on Energy, Environment and Climate Change. He is also part of the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa– EMP-A. Dr Surroop has done some research work on Energy System in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and has several publications in this field.
