Dr Felix Kalisti Sukums holds a PhD in Medical Informatics from Heidelberg University, Germany since April 2016. He also holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania awarded in 2008 and 2002 respectively.
He has over 17 years of experience in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. Dr Sukums is a Consultant, Lecturer, and Researcher at the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Dr Sukums was a director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) between 2015-2020. He teaches and supervises students on digital health and health information systems.
Dr Sukums has led numerous information systems, digital health research, and consultancies projects/assignment including the Capacity Building Consortium on Data Use project, assessment, and development of National Digital Health Strategies for Tanzania Mainland as well as for Zanzibar, electronic population registration system, human resource information systems, use of clinical decision support systems for improving maternal and new-born care and telemedicine. He has served as a member of various digital health and information system-related committees at local and national levels. He has over twelve original peer-reviewed publications and made presentations in both local and international conferences. His areas of interest include digital health, information system analysis, adoption, and usability.
