Brief Biography (English)

Mr Anthony Ssebagereka is a Research Officer at Makerere University School of Public Health-ResilientAfrica Network (RAN). He has a background training in Pharmacy, with a post graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management. He also has a Masters degree in Health Services Research from Makerere University, Uganda. Anthony has a wealth of experience in the design and conduct of operational and implementation research in the areas of global health, pharmaceutical supply chain, access to medicines, Victimology as well as supporting innovations in the area of resilience and development interventions. Most of his work in the recent past has been involving development research in the sectors of Malaria, HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis, Sexual and reproductive health, Immunization and Neglected Tropical diseases. Anthony is the project team lead for a study entitled: The Vaccine Economics Research for Sustainability and Equity (VERSE) which aims to further develop in-country capacity to conduct robust and locally-relevant equity analyses, focusing on the immunization program in Uganda. The grant is funded by the Gates Foundation, through International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at Johns Hopkins University.

Mr Ssebagereka has over 10 years wealth of experience in the design and coordination of several studies (especially health facility-based, household surveys as well as qualitative interviews) in East and West Africa and has vast experience in the monitoring and evaluation of development projects in low resource settings. He has also been been at the heart of implementation, data management, analysis and report writing for the studies for which he has been a team member. Anthony has vast experience in working with development partners, academia and government agencies in Sub-Saharan Africa in effort to advance development agendas and generate evidence to support policy framework development and decision-making space.

Mr Ssebagereka has strong interest in cutting-age innovations related to data science and the next generation data analytics to support research and inform policy.
