Prof Martinique Sparks holds a PhD in Human Movement Sciences and she is Accredited by the International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport as a Level 3 applied Performance Analyst.
Due to her involvement as an Analyst with male and female football she was invited to Collaborate on a Research Report in conjunction with Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) that was presented to senior management of the South African Football Association (SAFA).
Prof Sparks was also Involved with the South African Women's Hockey team. As a Performance Analyst, she accompanied them to the World League tournament in 2017 and the 2018 World Cup in London. Although most of her Research specializes in Global Positioning System (GPS) analysis within the team sports environment, she has collaborated with Barry University (Florida, USA) on a project analyzing the blood lactate dynamics and heart rate variability in ultra-distance relay runners as well.
Her Research Interests and Current Projects focus on GPS analysis and specifically fatigue analysis in rugby union, rugby sevens, hockey and football.
