Dr Yinka Somorin is a motivated early-career Scientist with a strong passion for excellence in academic research, teaching and developing human capacity. He is an experienced Researcher with expertise in molecular microbiology, molecular diagnostics, biofilms and food safety, developing translational research focussing on development of rapid diagnostic tools for detecting pathogens and understanding emerging drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), leading to interventions for controlling antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
His research activities have resulted in over £135,000 in research funding, 18 publications, 17 conference presentations and 19 awards. Dr Somorin currently works as a Research Fellow in the School of Pharmacy at Queen's University Belfast, UK.
