Brief Biography (English)

Silvester Ron Simango is Professor and Head of the Department of English Language and Linguistics at Rhodes University (RU). His work focuses on the syntax of complex predicates with a focus on Bantu languages, Spatial and temporal deixis in African languages, Code-switching and related language contact phenomena, and Language in education. He is the Director (Non-Executive) at Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy. He is member of the Faculty of Humanities Standing Committee at RU, member in Senate Executive at RU, member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), and member of the Centre for Advanced Studies of African Society (CASAS) Scientific Advisory Board.
