Brief Biography (English)

Dr Mitulo Silengo has been the Director of the Disaster Management Training Centre at Mulungushi University in Kabwe, Zambia, since 2009. He is currently Teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Corporate Governance, Environmental Sustainability, Organization Development and Change Management.

Dr Silengo's Research interests are in the impact of climate change on livelihoods and promoting resilience of communities to impacts of disasters. He previously served as Academic Director for the Leadership for Environment and Development Southern Africa (LEAD-Southern Africa); an organization that promotes leadership and strengthens ecological and social resilience of ecosystems and communities to the impacts of natural and human-induced hazards.

He also served as Dean of the School of the Built Environment at Copperbelt University, Zambia. Dr Silengo is a Member of the African Union (AU) - Africa Science and Technology Advisory Group for Disaster Risk Reduction. He is also an active Member of the Hazards and Disaster Consortium – International Science Council Regional Office for Southern Africa.
