Dr Johann Serfontein is a Senior Healthcare Consultant at HealthMan and a guest lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB). He also serves as CEO of the Ophthalmology Management Group and National Operations Manager of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa. His research includes academic publications on Biomechanics in football and rugby injuries and he has presented football and rugby injury research at the FIFA World Football Medicine Congress and various national congresses in South Africa. The recent academic activity includes delivering Keynote addresses and other presentations on healthcare policy at a number of congresses, including the Ophthalmological Society Congresses, the ENT Society Congress, the Psychiatric Society Congress, and various Academic weekends. He also lectures in the Healthcare MBA programme at USB and has published numerous opinion pieces on Healthcare policy in the South African national press. Dr Serfontein is also an award-winning fiction author under the pseudonym, Jean Cerfontaine.
