Prof Marissa Rollnick is Research Fellow on the Mamelodi campus of the University of Pretoria and Professor Emeritus in science education at Wits University. She holds a doctorate in science education from Wits University and is a Specialist in academic development and science education.

Prof Rollnick's professional career includes appointments as high school science and maths Teacher, Teacher Educator (William Pitcher College, Swaziland and the University of Swaziland), Lecturer and Professor in chemistry and chemistry education on access programs and subsequently teacher education at Wits University and science education research at Wits University.

She has had various Visiting Appointments at the University of York, UK, Western Michigan University (Fulbright award), USA and University of Cape Town. Prof Rollnick's areas of Research and Publications include language in science education, student access to science in higher education and pedagogical content knowledge.

She is the Author of over 70 refereed journal articles and books. Prof Rollnick has received several awards, most notably the distinguished contribution to research award from the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) in the USA.
