Brief Biography (English)

Dr Lydia Rhyman is an early career researcher and I am fully active in research in the Computational Chemistry Group at the University of Mauritius, Mauritius. She was awarded a PhD in Computational Chemistry in 2013 from the University of Mauritius, Mauritius. She is currently doing a second post-doctoral research at the University of Mauritius in affiliation with the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research interest lies in the use of Computational Chemistry as it is a fast emergent field where the main focus is on solving chemically related problems with the help of computers by using appropriate software. Computational chemists are providing deeper and more exquisite details on complex systems which cannot be assessed by experiments alone. Besides her interest in research, she is active in the organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops and in outreach activities. Her aims are to promote Computational Chemistry in Africa, to raise awareness on research integrity, particularly among young African scientists and to promote science education among girls in secondary schools.
