Brief Biography (English)

Dr Moshood Abiola Popoola has gained Research experience in Quantitative Genetics and Animal Breeding as well as Molecular Genetics. He added to this feat with an additional Masters degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.

Immediately after these degree programmes, Dr Popoola initiated his Doctoral programme in Quantitative and Molecular Genetics which was done through trilateral engagements and collaborations with multiple global agencies and organizations.

In 2016, he Won the African Biosciences Challenge Fund (ABCF) Fellowship funded by the Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the BecA-CSIRO partnership; the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA); the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF); the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Dr Popoola is also a Member of the research team for Projects on Management of Indigenous Livestock to Foster Agricultural Innovation in Eastern, Southern and Western Africa (iLINOVA); co-financed by the ACP-EU Cooperation Programme in Science and Technology II (S&T II). A programme of the ACP Group of States, with the financial assistance of the European Union.

He is a Senior Lecturer at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr Popoola's Research interest is in molecular or population genetics and livestock extension.
