Prof Alisa Phulukdaree's passion lies in Scientific Discovery through Research which calls for an in-depth understanding of cellular biochemistry and molecular biology and application in the field of Health Sciences. Her doctoral and post-doctoral Research output emanated from collaboration with clinicians, chemists and environmental epidemiologists; as well as international engagement with chemists and a phylogenetics expert at the University of Manchester in the UK.
She is an Ambassador for young research leadership at the University of Pretoria, South Africa: as a Mentor of the TUKS Young Research Leader Programme, at a National level: as a Member of the South African Young Academy of Science (in which she is also the Champion for the “Feeding the Pipeline” initiative), and at a Continental level: as Facilitator and Mentor for the Africa Science Leadership Programme and a Fellow of the Next Einstein Forum.
As a young academic, Prof Phulukdaree has been able to Engage with and Contribute to the body of knowledge in the field of health science. She believes that academia provides the optimal platform for teaching, research and the grooming of young minds that have a passion for scientific research with clinical relevance.
