Dr Jodi Pelders holds a PhD in Public Health from University of the Witwatersrand and MSc in Ergonomics from Rhodes University. She is registered as a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) by the Professional Affairs Board of the Ergonomics Society of South Africa. She has been awarded a National Research Foundation (NRF) rating (Y2 category). Dr Pelders has worked as a researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for more than 10 years. Her research has related to human factors, health, and safety in the southern African mining sector. Her research interests include fatigue management, physiological strain, human centred design, incident analysis, socio-economic and living conditions, and modernisation of the mining industry. She has had a number of papers published in peer-reviewed journals, and has also reviewed a number of papers.
