Dr. Abhishek Pandey is a senior lecturer at the School of Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand. He received his MSc and PhD. in physics from the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, India. After completing his PhD thesis work, he joined the Ames Laboratory-US Department of Energy at Iowa State University for his postdoctoral research. Subsequently, he spent about a year at the Louisiana State University and two years at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University as a researcher. Dr. Pandey’s research interest mainly focused on the growth and synthesis of novel functional materials, correlated electron systems, quantum materials, and low-dimensional magnetic systems and in-depth exploration of their properties. He routinely collaborates with ARPES, neutron and x-ray scattering, NMR, electronic structure calculation, microscopy, and solid-state chemistry groups.
