Dr Titus Ogalo Pacho is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy of Education at the School of Education and Human Resource Development at Kisii University in Kenya. He holds a PhD in Educational Science from the University of Hamburg, Germany; an MA in Philosophy from the University of Zimbabwe, and a BEd from Kenyatta University, Kenya. He has 10+ years’ professional experience in teaching, research, consultancy, professional development training and community engagement in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Germany, and the Netherlands. He is committed to critical scholarly engagement with Africa and of Africa-oriented teaching, research, and policy advice. His research interests are in the areas of innovative approaches to education and their influence on access, quality, equity, and relevance in education; community service learning; global citizenship education; internationalization of higher education; teacher professionalism and professional development practices; and contemporary issues in education. He is the author of two books (Critical and creative education for the new Africa, 2013 and Service-learning in higher education in Africa, 2018. He is also the author of several articles, book chapters and learning modules.
Dr Pacho was the recipient of a KAAD (Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst) Scholarship in 2013-2016 to study a PhD in Educational Science at the University of Hamburg in Germany. He was a visiting fellow at the African Studies Centre, Leiden University in Leiden, the Netherlands in 2018, and worked on the topic of global citizenship education. In 2019, he was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Global Challenges, Utrecht University in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he undertook a research on global citizenship education in higher education in Europe and worked with the Centre on the development of Community Service Learning.
