Professor Samuel Owuor is an urban geographer at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Amsterdam, MA in Urban Geography from the University of Nairobi/McGill University and BA in Geography from the University of Nairobi. He has over the years, gained experience in scientific research and publication, teaching and supervision of graduate students. His research interests are in the fields of urban development and governance; urban poverty and livelihoods; urban food and nutrition security; and urban-rural linkages. Prof Owuor has acquired a wide-range of management and leadership skills during his academic career at the University of Nairobi.

Prof Owuor has served as Head of Department of Geography and Environmental Studies as well as being appointed in a number of university management committees and leadership positions. He is a scholar with international exposure and networks. He has been involved in the design and implementation of collaborative and multi-disciplinary research projects, as well as being a visiting scholar and external examiner in a number of universities across the globe. In addition, he contributes to the society through participation in community development efforts as well as providing intellectual insights on national and international issues.
