Dr Mojisola Owoseni’s Research interests include applications of biosensor technology in the detection of microbial contaminants in water, antimicrobial resistance studies, microbial related infectious diseases and development of therapeutic strategies for antimicrobial resistance using medicinal plants. She has Published many articles in these areas.
Dr Owoseni is currently Implementing Collaborative Research Projects on rapid low-cost sensors for monitoring drinking water quality with researchers at the Cranfield University, UK, the Centre International de Référence Chantal Biya pour la Recherche sur la Prévention et la Prise en charge du VIH/SIDA" (CIRCB), Cameroon and Elizade University, Nigeria. These projects are sponsored by the Frontiers of Development, Royal Academy of Engineering, UK and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
She is also conducting an ICT-enabled multisector-based approach to a weather information project for monitoring water resources with researchers in Africa and the UK which is sponsored by the Global Challenges Research Fund.
Dr Owoseni is the Leader of the Research for Innovation and Development Group (RIDE), Federal University of Lafia, Nigeria and a Member of several professional societies including an Affiliate of the African Academy of Science Affiliate and International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE).
Her future activities include engaging the public by creating awareness of science education among students in high school and expanding her research network.
