Dr Fredrick Otike’s success and dedication to his profession have been recognised both locally and globally. In 2014, he was recognised and honoured as an unsung hero by Research4Life, a public-private partnership involving the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Cornell University and Yale University, and the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers. This recognition was for his exemplary work in academic libraries in Kenya, particularly in improving access to online research. His accolade was featured in a booklet titled “Unsung Heroes: Stories from the Library.”
