Brief Biography (English)

Dr Benton Onyango Otieno has developed leadership, organizational, project management, and research skills over the past five years during his postgraduate studies. He has published widely on water management and given several profound talks at international conferences highlighting the importance of integrating different treatment technologies in dealing with recalcitrant wastes and reducing carbon footprints of wastewater treatment plants through the utilization of renewable energy. Benton has written research project proposals attracting grants totaling 2.9 million Rands ($ 186 000). Benton previously volunteered as a Laboratory Assistant at Lake Victoria South Water Services Board in Kenya, where he gained vast experience in water quality surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation of water service providers, and community development. Benton strives to design water and wastewater treatment processes that can mitigate climate change, promote the green economy concept, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Benton is passionate and committed to the development of Africa. His wish is to make a difference, be part of something bigger than himself, and explore his leadership potential. He works very well in a team, either as an active team player or leader. He keeps time and respects both his seniors and juniors.
