Linus Umezuruike Opara is a Distinguished Professor and holds the DST/NRF South African Research Chair in Postharvest Technology at Stellenbosch University (SU). He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Postharvest Technology and Innovation , member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and member of the Executive Board and Chair of Section VI of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. He has been recognised on several occasions for his contributions for significant achievements in the advancement and application of science including the Outstanding Research Award from Oman, the Presidential Citation of the CGIR for services to agricultural engineering in Africa, Honorary Membership of the Golden Key International Honor Society, and Visiting Professorships at universities in China and Nigeria.
