Dr Benson Ongarora is an accomplished chemistry lecturer with over seven years of experience in teaching and research in the Department of Chemistry at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya. His area of specialty is in teaching of organic chemistry and research, which has provided me with a good foundation in material chemistry. He has skills in synthesis, isolation, characterisation and analysis, which have catapulted me to carryout research in various fields. He has successfully supervised four students at Master’s level both in the area of chemistry and leather technology. One of his outstanding researches in leather technology is on tannage of chamois using oil extracted from tannery fleshing waste. He has more than ten publications in peer reviewed journals on various subjects. He is always committed in his career development in order to ensure quality research and innovation in the long-term. In addition, He is a reviewer with Team Publons, a part of Web of Science group, and the Journal of American Leather Chemists and Technologists (JALCA). He holds a doctorate degree from Louisiana State University, where he completed his studies in organic chemistry in 2012. He believes that technology will go a long way in solving challenges faced by the society.
