Olumakaiye M. Funke is a Professor in the Department of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife Nigeria. She has a BSc. degree in Foods and Nutrition from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1995); M.Sc. in Human Nutrition (2000) and Ph.D. in Public Health Nutrition (2007) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in International Food and Nutrition Security from Wageningen University and Research Center. Her research focus is in the area of Public Health Nutrition with an interest in vulnerable groups (Infants, Schoolchildren, Adolescents, and Women of Reproductive Age). Her strengths are in Nutritional Assessments, Recipe Development & Sensory Evaluation, and Randomized Control Trial studies. She has published about 40 articles in reputable Local and International Journals. One of her published articles on Food consumption pattern of adolescents and effect on body weight was adjudged number one in the top ten ratings among all articles published in that domain worldwide between 2013 and 2015. She is a regular speaker at both local and international conferences. She was a member of 11-man team who represented Nigeria at the Nutrition Curriculum Harmonization for West African Countries in 2017-2018. Prof Olumakaiye has won several awards such as Fellow of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (2011-2013) - a Bill and Melinda Gates sponsored award; African Nutrition Leadership Programme (2008); University Administration Support Programme (2020). She is a consultant to many Organisations on nutrition matters.
