Mrs Lerato Lucia Olifant was born and bred in Potchefstroom. She started her studies in 2013 at the North-West University where she earned her BA in health sciences, and in 2016 she completed her Honours degree in Psychology. Obtaining these qualifications did not hinder her from continuing her studies, in 2022 she received her Master's Degree in Health Sciences in Trans-disciplinary Health promotion at North-West University. She is doing her second year PhD in Public Health at the University of Johannesburg. Since her interest lies in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, her current study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative PrEP interventions implemented during the COVID-19 lockdown period among adolescent girls and young women in the North-West Province, South Africa. She also works as a Research Assistant at the SAMRC/UJ Pan African Centre for Epidemics Research (PACER) Extramural Unit. One of her roles is to mentor Master of Public Health students in building their research proposals and mini-dissertations.
