Dr Sogo Olatunde is a budding academic with strong Research expertise in the field of Food Science and Technology. This earned him a place as one of the Top 500 Nigerian Researchers in the field of Food Science (2014-2019) by Elsevier publisher.
His Research has focused mainly on production of value-added food products from novel crops such as pro-vitamin A Cassava and neglected and underutilized legumes such as African Yam Beans (Sphenostylis stenocarpa). Other areas of interest include understanding the relationships between proximate and functional properties of flours from plant origin for food applications. Currently, Dr Olatunde's research group at the University is looking at the possibilities of using African Yam Beans (AYB) and finger millet (underutilized crops) in food applications.
He received a Travel Grant Award to attend the Global Cassava Partnership for the 21st Century (GCP21) in the Republic of Benin in June, 2018. Dr Olatunde is a Professional Member of the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST). Currently, he is the Treasurer of NIFST, Western Chapter. He is also Serving as Examination Officer in his department (Food Science and Engineering, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Nigeria) in addition to his Teaching and Research responsibilities.
