Brief Biography (English)
- Mathew Folaranmi Olaniyan (PhD; Cert. Immunology; PGDE; FMLSCN., FWAPCMLS in Immunology) is the Dean School of Postgraduate Studies and a Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Edo State University, Uzairue, Nigeria. He is a National Universities Commission Gold Medalist in the review of 5 accreditation instruments and an accredited Wikipedia editor. Prof Olaniyan was appointed by the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria, as a member of the standing Ad Hoc committee of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) on Education and Examination between 2015 and 2019. He is an External Examiner to some Universities, a regular MLSCN Examiner and member of MLSCN Accreditation team. His research interest/focus is on Chemical pathology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
- Current Research Breakthroughs /Contributions To Knowledge
a. Discovered ant-measles Immunoglobulin G in blood donors that can provide prophylaxis and therapeutic treatment for measles infected individuals and those that may be at risk
b. Discovery and use of some plant extract as antitoxins/antidotes,, antioxidants , haematinic, and anti-inflammatory agents
c. Discovered a novel relationship between micronutrients and viral infections as it affects severity of infection, production of antibodies and clearance of antigens
