Brief Biography (English)

Dr Gideon Ikechukwu Okoroiwu is a senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Health Science, National Open University of Nigeria, Nigeria. A Medical Laboratory Scientist by profession with MSc in Medical Parasitology and Entomology as well as PhD in Medical Microbiology. He is interested in collaborative research works/studies in Sexually Transmitted and Urinary Tract Infections/Diseases (STDs/Is&UTIs/Ds), HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB infections. He is a member of many health professional bodies including Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). He has won many awards, published papers on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD), Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) and other Public Health issues including children’s Anaemia and Diarrhoeal diseases. A Knight of St Christopher (Anglican Communion). Dr Okoroiwu is always willing to learn new skills, friendly, helpful and polite, able to work independently in busy environment and also within a team setting. Moreso, he is able to listen effectively when solving problems. Moreover, Dr Okoroiwu is an excellent team worker and able to take instructions from all levels and build up good working relationships with all colleagues, reliable and possess excellent time keeping skills. Above all, Dr Okoroiwu is a mature team worker and adaptable to all challenging situations.
