Brief Biography (English)

Dr Kufre Joseph Okop is a Public Health Researcher and a Developmental Impact Specialist with expertise in population health, implementation science, community-based research, and programme intervention monitoring, evaluation and learning (MERL). He currently works as a Project Coordinator & M&E Lead/Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the UKRI GCFR Accelerate Hub at the Centre for Social Science Research, Faculty of Humanities, University of Cape Town. Over the last 10 years, he has managed and lead implementation of public health related programme and implementation science intervention, and research network engagement in many African countries, and other Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

Dr Okop is actively involved in designing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary, multi-setting collaborative research projects, capacity building and advocacy focusing on Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) prevention. He has coordinated a number of COVID-19-related virtual and in-person population-based intervention programmes, and capacity bulding on Non-Communicable Disease (NCD)'s, and violence prevention in low-income settings. He also support problem-based learning and virtual courses for medical and public graduate acedemic training. He currently provides technical supports for the implementation and evaluation of the ongoing multi-country research project parenting for lifelong health ‘Scaling-Up Parenting Evaluation Research (SUPER) in over 27 low- and middle-income countries. He is a co-PI of COVID-19 group-based virtual parenting for lifelong health intervention targeted at prevention of family violence, improving child and parent wellbeing.
