Dr Ambrose Okem was recently appointed as the Director of the Medical Biotechnology and Immunotherapy Unit at Wits Health Consortium, Johannesburg, South Africa.
He received his PhD from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2015 and has advanced his expertise in the field of preclinical phytotherapy research through various Postdoctoral Fellowships, including the prestigious joint Postdoctoral fellowship in 2018 between the SARChI chair in Cancer Biotechnology at the University of Cape Town and the Preclinical Drug Development Platform at the North-West University, South Africa.
His current research focuses on pharmaceutical product development through preclinical and clinical evaluations. Dr Okem has Extensive Experience in vitro and in vivo assays development, implementation and very familiar working in AAALAC and GLP accredited facilities.
He received authorization from the South African Veterinary Council to perform certain para-veterinary procedures (on rodents). Dr Okem is a highly ambitious and innovative Researcher and has contributed immensely to the research and development of phytotherapy research in South Africa. His research output has yielded a great deal that has been Published in international journals of repute.
