Mr Daniel Otieno Ojwang is a research scientist in the Food Research Division, Kenya Industrial Research, and Development Institute. He has long research experience in food research and product development. He has worked with many smallholder farmers as well as small and medium-scale food processors across the country in developing and improving value-addition technologies of agricultural produce. He has technical skills and experience in bioprocessing including fermentation, down, and up-stream processing technologies. He has advanced technical skills in microbial screening using molecular, morphological, and biochemical techniques. Mr Ojwang has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers in scientific conferences. His research interest is in the recovery of value-added products from agricultural waste materials for applications in the fine chemical industry, bioenergy, health, and agricultural sectors. He is currently studying PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
