Dr Elizabeth Ojewole is a faculty member of the Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Health Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He is involved in research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has been involved in areas of research including medicine use and handling therapeutic drug monitoring services, and pharmacovigilance. He contributed to a textbook titled “Therapeutic basis of clinical pharmacy in the tropics”. Dr Ojewole investigated the buccal mucosal route as an alternative delivery route for antiretroviral drugs. He was part of the executive committee members of the South African Association of Hospital and Institutional Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal province and was in charge of a continuous professional development portfolio. He has worked in both private and public healthcare sectors in South Africa and engaged in interns and Pharmacist Assistants training. He was engaged at the community level, presented various talks on HIV/AIDS awareness, career choices, and medicines disposal to patients, healthcare workers, and schools. He participated as a presenter and chairperson for scientific sessions at several research symposia and conferences. The experiences were invaluable and have contributed to his academic journey, and had an impact on his research, teaching, and learning.
