Brief Biography (English)

Dr Peter Oino is currently employed by Kisii University as a Lecturer and a Chair of the Department of Sociology, Gender & Development Studies. He holds a PhD in Anthropology, a Master’s degree in Sociology (Community Development & Project Management) and a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology. He has also pursued short courses in Human resource management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Parenting and adolescent nutrition. He has seven years of university teaching experience and a demonstrable ability to undertake academic research. He has authored over twenty-five articles in reputable International Peer Reviewed Journals, two books, a book chapter and a number of conference proceedings.

Dr Oino attended and participated in local and International Conferences, presenting several research findings on various topics. He also participated in organizing international conferences. He has also participated in University Curriculum development of various programmes, served and chaired as a Masters and PhD Defence Panellist and Academic Supervisor at various universities. He is well versed in working with rural and urban vulnerable groups and communities in the areas of Climate change, Research, Culture and Reproductive health (Family Planning) Gender, HIV/Aids, Peacebuilding, Poverty, Social rehabilitation, and Child protection.

As a researcher, Dr Oino possess rich skills in Grant Management and Fundraising and so far he has won over 8 individual and collaborative researches. He has extensive knowledge in Social Science research methods both quantitative and qualitative methods. As a consultant, he has strong skills in Project Management Monitoring and Evaluation with MS Projects, Logframes and the Logical Framework Approach, Theory of Change in Project Development, Result-based Monitoring and Evaluation. In Research he possess a variety of skills in socio-health related issues, environment and livelihood, Food Security Information Systems and Networks particularly on Food Resilience, Livelihoods Assessment and Analysis, Value Chain Development and Market Linkages.
