Dr. Timothy Oluseyi Odeyale is the Head of Department and senior lecturer at the Department of Architecture, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Lincoln, England. Dr. Odeyale is a chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and a member of England’s Higher Education Academy (HEA). His area of research interest includes the history of architecture, sustainability, urban design, urban agriculture, theories of space/place, and perception with a particular interest in philosophy guided by contemporary debates in epistemology and metaphysics. His current research interests comprise, Comparative study, critiques, and explorations of the concept of culture in the transformation of African Cities from traditional to modern milieu; examination of (mis)representation and (mis)understanding of African urban space; sociotechnical theories on cityscape; ethnographical study of everyday realities, blurring of boundaries and ‘in-between space’ in emerging cities. He is widely traveled and has authored many research papers and articles over 70 (seventy) in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings on debates that surround theories of social sustainability and the emerging trends in the contemporary modern architecture. He has also been involved in architectural design, supervision, and construction activities of new town developments in Nigeria, Cameroon, and England.
