Professor Henry Kizito Okola Nyongesa, is a professor of Computer Science at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology at Nyeri, Kenya. He is also the director Centre for Data Research Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (CeDRAIC). He has previously worked at the University of Sheffield, Brunel University London, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Botswana and at University of the Western Cape. His research is in the realm of artificial intelligence for development. Specifically, the research addresses so called ‘big data’ solutions, to extract and apply knowledge from large databases from areas as diverse as smart agriculture, biomedicine, bioinformatics, and cybersecurity.
Prof Nyongesa received BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Aston University in Birmingham, MSc in Electronics from King’s College, University of London and PhD in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from University of Sheffield. He has published more than 100 hundred articles in peer reviewed scholarly journals and conferences, and received research grants from notable organisations including Microsoft Research (USA), National Research Foundation (South Africa) and Flanders Scientific Research Organization (FWO), Belgium.
