Brief Biography (English)

Dr George Simba Nyamato is a lecturer of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Embu. He holds a PhD in Applied synthetic Organometallic Chemistry from the University of KwaZuluNatal, South Africa. His main research interests are centered on the inorganic and organometallic chemistry of the transition and main group elements. This involves the synthesis of heterofunctional ligands as potential chelating agents of heavy metals- with application in the extraction of heavy metals from water; and the design and development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems as precursors of, for example, ethylene oligomerisation.

Dr Nyamato has three broad research interests centred on Applied Organometallic Chemistry (development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems), Bioinorganic Chemistry (synthesis of metal complexes, relevant to biochemistry/medicine, as antimicrobial agents) and Environmental Chemistry (analysis of both organic and inorganic pollutants in plants, soil and water).

Dr Nyamato is also currently a member of the Kenya Chemical Society (KCS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
