Professor Nwinyi, Obinna Chukwuemeka (MIPAN, MNIFST) has established himself both as an academic and a researcher in the areas of Environmental Microbiology and Public Health research. The doctoral thesis was titled: Molecular and Physiological studies on bacterial degradation of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. Prof. Nwinyi is a recipient of so many awards such as 2015: Winner: Professor Oyewale Tomori National Prize for Young Scientist in Microbiology in Nigeria, Fulbright Fellowship Award, Honorary citizen of the great of Nebraska awarded by the Governor of Nebraska, USA, and Certificate of Achievement by the Director, Office of Academic Exchange Program, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of State. He has also distinguished himself as a prolific author by earning a certificate of recognition as a top-cited author in 2010-2011 from Elsevier Publisher. He has been actively involved in research through self-initiation and collaboration with other researchers from the Nigerian Universities and some foreign Universities such as: School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA and University of Johannesburg, South Africa. This strong collaboration has led to over 320 publications in accredited/peer-reviewed scientific journals/ National Centre for Biotechnology information in the United States. Prof. Nwinyi is a registered member’ of the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN) and Nigeria Institute of Food Science and Technology and a member of Nigerian Young Academy. Prof Nwinyi is involved with teaching and research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Covenant University and serves as the Sub Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies at this University.
