Prof Comfort Nkambule is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Pretoria, South Africa.
His philosophy of teaching is to inculcate a passion for continuous, curiosity driven self-directed learning. This is aptly applied to a research interest on the application of synthetic organic chemistry as a tool to address problems in three (3) areas of chemistry: chemical biology, chemical technology, and mechanisms of organic reactions.
Prof Nkambule's current projects include the bio catalyzed and stereodivergent synthesis of functionalized small ring heterocycles, the synthesis of new glycosyl tools for chemical glycobiology, and using natural products as a chiral resource pool for molecular editing and structural elaboration to enhance bioactivity.
He is also active as an Administrator and Volunteer in the promotion of the activities of the South African Chemical Institute (SACI) where he serves in the Executive Committee of the SACI North Section.
