Dr Cosmo Ngongondo is a Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. He holds a PhD in Hydrology from the University of Oslo in Norway. He headed the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at Chancellor College from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2015. His research interests are in the scientific assessments of impacts of climate change on main areas such as water resources and related other natural resources as well as agricultural production. He has conducted analyses of climate change indicators in Malawi and in the southern Africa region that can feed into climate change and variability impact assessments. His scientific research work in hydrological and climatic sciences and climate change adaptation received global recognition when he won the 2013 African Union-The World Academy of Sciences (AU-TWAS) Young Scientists National Award in the Earth and Life Sciences.
