Dr Mabedle Donald Ngobeni completed my MSc in Physics (cum laude) and PhD in 2006 and 2015 respectively, from the Centre for Space Research of the North-West University (NWU) under the supervision of Prof Marius Potgieter in Heliospheric Physics. His studies were mainly modelling the solar modulation of cosmic rays in the heliosphere. During my studies he was awarded the International Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) Outstanding Paper Award for Young Scientists; the National Research Foundation (NRF) / Department of Labour (DoL) Scarce Skills Scholarship (2005 – 2007) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) Sabbatical Grant to complete Doctoral degree (June 2013 – June 2014).
Dr Ngobeni began my career at the Vaal University of Technology where he held the following positions: Physics Lecturer (2008 - 2015) and Physics Senior Lecturer (2015 - 2017). In 2018 he joined the North-West University (NWU) Mafikeng campus as a Physics Senior Lecturer and became a member of the Center for Space Research. He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Joint Science and Technology Research Collaboration between South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF) / the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR).
